Blue Chamomile Essential Oil- Matricaria chamomilla
Blue Chamomile Essential Oil is also known as “German Chamomile Essential Oil.” It is steam distilled from Chamomile blossoms grown in the Bulgarian countryside. It has an intense, penetrating, earthy fragrance. Blue Chamomile is closely related Roman Chamomile (Chamaelmelum nobile). However, the two have similar, but not identical, properties. They also have notably different aromas, with Roman Chamomile having a sweeter, less penetrating scent.
Blue Chamomile Essential Oil has been described as quelling for inflammation and promoting to healing. It’s a favorite oil for dry, red, irritated skin and flaky skin. Some aromatherapists will add a small amount of Blue Chamomile Essential Oil to inhalations intended for inflamed respiratory tracts. While Blue chamomile has been described by aromatherapists as exerting a calming effect, it is said to be less calming than Roman chamomile.
