Easy DIY Toilet Bowl Fizzies
This video shows you step by step how to make easy DIY toilet fizzies.
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid. (Update – I changed the recipe to 1 cup)
- 1 Cup Corn Starch (Update- Helps bombs hold together better)
- 20 drops Lemon Essential Oil (Buy it here)
- 3 Tbsp distilled water
Mix the baking soda and citric acid in a glass bowl. Mix the distilled water and lemon essential oils in a separate small glass bowl. (Do not use plastic with essential oils).
SLOWLY add the liquid to the dry ingredient mixture. (If you add it too quickly you will start the reaction and it will make a big mess!).
Place into molds or trays (I use ice cube trays in the video) and let dry.
In the video I also show you my trick for preventing the essential oils from evaporating from the fizzies while they dry.
These easy DIY toilet bowl fizzies use baking soda as a mild abrasive and cleaning agent. The citric acid makes the reaction when water is added and causes the fizzing.
In the video, I also show you that I like to spray on hydrogen peroxide around the bowl as a mild bleaching agent. This also helps to remove stains.
I really like this recipe because it uses all natural and biodegradable products for cleaning your toilet. It avoids the harsh chemicals that are present in so many of the cleaners on the market for cleaning your toilet.
They leave a refreshing lemon scent in the bathroom and they don’t cause any harsh fumes. This is really important for those people who have breathing problems such as people with asthma or COPD
