DIY Glass Cleaner
This video shows you how to make a quick DIY glass cleaner using all natural ingredients. Not only are the ingredients all natural, but it works as well, if not better, than those expensive glass cleaners you purchase.
- 1/2 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
- 1/2 Cup Rubbing Alcohol
- 3 Cups Distilled Water
- 30 drops Peppermint Essential Oil (Purchase It Here)
Putting It All Together
Get a spray bottle, or as I do in the video you can re-purpose an empty spray bottle from a store bought glass cleaner. Just clean it well and reuse it with this glass cleaner.
You want to add the vinegar and rubbing alcohol to the bottle first. This will keep the pure essential oil from contacting the plastic in the bottle and possible eating into the plastic.
The alcohol is used as an emulsifier to help the essential oil blend into the water. Remember, even though essential oils are not technically oils, they still do not mix with water. The alcohol helps make that happen.
Next, you can add the Peppermint essential oil. You can use any of your favorite essential oils in this mix. I sometimes use citrus oils when I make this glass cleaner because they also have a clean fresh scent.
The last step is to add the water and shake to mix the ingredients.
I show in the video how using microfiber cloths can save you a ton of money over using paper towels. Simply use the microfiber towel and then toss it in the washer and dry it and use it again.
Correct Cleaning Of Microfiber
A note on cleaning microfiber the correct way. You should only use a mild detergent on microfiber. You should also wash them in cold or warm water with a cold water rinse only.
Likewise, dry them on the air or lowest heat setting. High heat can melt the microfibers and ruin the cloth. By cleaning them the correct way you will assure that you can use them for hundreds of washes.
Make some of this DIY glass cleaner and I’m sure you’ll never buy store-bought glass cleaner again. Use on windows and mirrors in the house, and all the glass in your car too.
