DIY Carpet Fresh
This video shows you how to make an easy DIY carpet fresh at home.
This easy recipe uses only baking soda and essential oils to help freshen your carpets and leave your room smelling clean and fresh.
To make this DIY carpet fresh you’ll need baking soda, citrus essential oils and a shaker to spread the mixture onto your carpets.
I repurposed an old foot powder container and placed the mixture into that so it is easy to squeeze the container and spread the carpet freshener.
Baking soda is the main ingredient in this DIY carpet fresh.
Simply place a cup of baking soda into a glass bowl. Then add 10 drops each of grapefruit, sweet orange and lemon essential oils. Mix each oil in thoroughly after adding the 10 drops.
This will give you an amazing clean citrus smelling carpet freshener which also has the odor absorbing power of baking soda.
You will have totally clean and fresh carpets when you use this in combination with the DIY Peppermint Foaming Carpet Cleaner from my previous post.
Simply spread this DIY carpet fresh on your carpet and let it stand for about 30 minutes. Then vacuum the carpet as you would normally. The carpet fresh will soak up the odors trapped in the carpet and leave them smelling clean and fresh from the citrus essential oils.
Another added benefit of this great carpet freshener is that when you vacuum the mixture up into the vacuum cleaner it will also freshen it as well.
If you have a canister vacuum just leave the mixture in the canister for a while before emptying it into the trash. It will leave a fresh scent in the vacuum canister, and will even freshen the trash.
Try making some of this DIY carpet fresh for yourself, and you can save a ton of money over buying the same product at the store. Let me know how it works for you in the comments.
